The Commission on Higher Education conducted a survey on “MOUs on academic cooperation between Thai and foreign higher education institutions”.
As of December 2005, it was found that 58 Thai higher education institutions signed 583 MOUs with foreign higher education institutions / international organizations. 44 Thai public higher education institutions signed 471 MOUs with foreign higher education institutions / international organizations, with the foreign counterparts while 14 Thai private higher education institutions signed 112 MOUs
The top five of countries of foreign higher education institutions having MOUs with Thai counterparts are the United States of America (93 MOUs), China (68 MOUs), Japan (65 MOUs), Australia (54 MOUs), and Vietnam (39 MOUs).
The top five of Thai higher education institutions having the highest number of MOUs are Silpakorn University (68), Chiang Mai University (66), King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (43), Sripatum University (37), and Siam University (33).
