• Following a stint at B.H.E.L. (1975-1979), Dr. Balasubramanian joined the Centre for Energy Studies at IIT Delhi. Over a decade, he rose through the ranks to become a Professor (Higher Academic Grade), retiring in 2012.
• His leadership extended beyond the classroom. He served as the Chair Professor for the NTPC M.Tech program in Power Generation Technology, a collaborative effort between IIT Delhi's Mechanical and Electrical Engineering departments.
• Dr. Balasubramanian also shared his expertise internationally, holding visiting professorships at the University of Newcastle (Australia) and the University of Calgary (Canada).

• A prolific researcher, Dr. Balasubramanian focused on Power System Planning, Operation & Control, Energy System Modeling & Management, and Non-conventional Energy Sources.
• He guided 20 Ph.D. students at IIT Delhi and published over 150 research papers, demonstrating his commitment to academic progress.
• Dr. Balasubramanian's expertise was sought by organizations like NTPC, BHEL, Siemens, and the World Bank, where he successfully executed major consultancy and sponsored research projects.

• Dr. Balasubramanian's dedication extended to professional societies. He served as Chairman of the IEEE Delhi Section (2000 & 2001) and the IEEE Hyderabad PES/IAS/PELS Joint Chapter (2014 & 2015).
• His contributions were recognized by the IEEE PES-IAS Delhi Chapter with the "Outstanding Engineer" award in 2005.
• Dr. Balasubramanian also served as an esteemed member of the National Committee formed by the Government of India to shape the 12th Five Year Plan for Power Sector R&D.

Currently, Dr. Balasubramanian holds the position of Senior Professor at GNISTS, Hyderabad.
